Maria Teresa Rojas

Maria Teresa Rojas recently concluded a long career with the Open Society Foundations, where she founded and directed the International Migration Initiative, helping give voice to immigrants and refugees throughout the world. In the early part of her career, she worked as a journalist, filmmaker, television producer and television general manager. During that time, she learned the power of helping others tell their stories and shape their narratives. She has also taught English as a second language and medical interpreting for hospital personnel. Social justice and community service have been the bedrock of her personal and professional life. Those values were shaped by her childhood experience growing up in Colombia.
