A writing- and empathy-based tool for connecting with students

Professional Development

Herstory in the classroom professional development for teachers, counselors, and school social workers Herstory in the Classroom includes flexible options for professional development training to engage teachers, counselors, and school social workers in the classroom and provide a new tool to connect with their students. By providing a new way to establish trust and communication, they find that using the Herstory pedagogy throughout the year assists with student engagement, confidence, and academic achievement.

Training options include in-person, virtual, and hybrid models. Herstory can also provide ongoing supervision and guidance to teachers and school staff. We offer various resources for teachers, counselors, and school social workers including training manuals and books, as well as our Herstory in the Classroom and our Brave Journeys curriculum sites. Teachers and school staff are welcomed to provide feedback on the site and to contribute lesson plans and videos to help support other teachers that are using the curriculum without on-site Herstory facilitation.
