We currently have four trained facilitators working closely with our artistic director and founder, and a fifth facilitator on medical leave. Each has a specialty area, reflective of her particular skills and interests. Two work together in the prisons. Two work in bilingual or all-Spanish workshops. Each participates in many of Herstory’s special workshops and readings. Facilitators not only attend regular training and staff meetings, but are often involved in outreach and public presentations involving their Herstory projects. They play an active part in selecting reading segments for public events and work in an editorial capacity for our magazines. Our bilingual facilitators serve as translators as well.
As Herstory grows, we encourage newcomers to talk to us about training to become core facilitators.
