These weekly three-hour-long workshops bring together new writers and working facilitators, offering start-to-finish work on book-length projects, as well as help with shorter writings. Taught by Herstory’s artistic director, Erika Duncan, who created our method of writing for “the Stranger/Reader,” these workshops continually welcome new writers and student interns, even as they serve as the training ground for facilitators working in Suffolk County’s prisons, with Long Island’s Latina community, with adolescents in the schools and with our Bridge-Building series. Guidance is provided wherever each writer finds herself so that newcomers and seasoned participants cross-fertilize one another, reviewing each step of the process while enjoying the stimulation of Herstory’s work in the community. Participants at all levels are welcomed. The fee for this workshop is $150 for a month of 4 three-hour sessions.
